Gardening for Wildlife by The Untidy Gardeners
It was great to read about all the environmental activities that are going on across the parishes in last month’s magazine.
The sideways picture was a delight! I’m sure the trees at Hillside will have welcomed the recent rain.
After nearly four weeks of dry, sunny and sometimes quite windy weather the rain has also been welcomed by our burgeoning gardens. There are many creatures emerging too.
This month we thought we would delight your senses with a few pictures especially as the on-line magazine can show them in full colour!

Honesty flowers to sup on
First butterfly, a Peacock, visited in mid March.
Speckled wood, orange tip and small tortoiseshell are now regular visitors.
The bird feeder is close to shrubs. The sparrows love it as they can dart into cover very quickly (hence no birds on the feeder – they were chattering away in the bushes waiting for me to go away!) Fat balls are favourite at the moment.
A night time walk revealed these beauties………
There is a very healthy population of slow worms in the garden.
They hide under some old carpet that has been down on some rough grass for many years.
