Open Eco Homes Weekend – 26–28 September
Hi everyone, I bet some of you are curious about how to make your home warmer, greener, and cheaper to run?
This is Robin and Hannah - they decided to build a Passiv Haus in Dartington. They made it from natural materials and it makes more energy than it uses! Robin says he knows we need to reduce our environmental impact for the sake of the next generation, he is in a position that makes him able to take action - so he did, when the energy crisis hit and bills soared it barely touched them, and lastly he says of things like solar PV - the financial return on some of these things is so obvious. If you have savings in the bank earning, what, 5% if you're lucky then why not convert them into something which gives you a much bigger return?
Robin runs the Eco Homes tour which is happening this weekend and has all sorts of different types of house and projects taking part. They will be showcasing eco-retrofits, low-carbon builds, natural materials, heat pumps, other renewables, and more than that - you can talk with the homeowners which is so valuable!
