The Friends of the River Dart are submitting an application for Bathing Water Status for Steamer Quay, Stoke Gabriel, Dittisham, & Dartmouth. If successful SWW would have to allocate more funding to reduce the number of sewage outfalls at these sites, which is to the benefit of our community and environment. This is the first step in a process to try to improve the health of the whole river.
On the morning of this Sunday 3rd (9am-12), and the afternoon of Sunday 10th (2pm-6) there will be a count of how many people are using the Dart at Dittisham. This will be centered on the Ham as the application has to be for a single site.
Counters will be wearing hi vis vests and will also be collecting general signatures of support.
A successful application needs more than 100 people using the river during these counts, over a 4 hr period.
Using the river means anything where you get wet – splashing, paddling, paddleboarding, sailing, crabbing, fishing, swimming, etc.

- When you come down to use the river this Sunday morning (3rd), and/or next Sunday afternoon (10th), then do look out for people in hi vis, come and say hello, and lend your support!
